Breakfast Topic: Five years

Today is November 23rd, and that means it’s the fifth anniversary of the release of World of Warcraft . That’s a long time! Especially in the high-risk world of MMOs, where a bad launch can mean your whole game is doomed , or a sudden change in gameplay can make your whole audience rear up on its hind legs at you.

Dots, hots and haste, Blue posts

Dots, hots and haste Quote from: Ghostcrawler ( Source ) We are trying to make haste a slightly more attractive stat for classes that utilize a lot of damage or healing over time spells, specifically Shadow priests, warlocks (though especially Affliction) and Resto druids. We realize other classes use hots and dots too, but I think we can all agree that it’s a bigger problem for the ones I mentioned.

Ulduar Change – Thorim disconnect, Blue Posts, Three Worgen Moon T-Shirt

Ulduar Change – Thorim disconnect Quote from: Dresorull ( Source ) We’ve made some changes to the Thorim encounter in Ulduar to reduce the amount of information sent when you initially start the fight. This should reduce the amount of lag and disconnects that some players experience when starting the encounter.

Faction changes available in Europe

Since World of Warcraft ’s paid faction change service launched in the US at the beginning of the month, not a day has gone by when we have not received tips, questions, and complaints asking when the feature would be available in Europe. Well, European readers, the wait is over ! So if you’re eager to go from Gnome to Orc, all you need to do is head over to the account management page and be willing to pony up 25.00 Euros or 20.00 Pounds for the privilege

Argent Tournament gains will not transfer between factions

Just a heads up for you faction transfers, though you’ve probably already realized this if you have made a transfer: many of your faction reputations will transfer over just fine, but not so for any Argent Tournament progress you’ve made. Argent Tournament reputation and gains will not transfer over if you change factions . Kisirani says that Blizzard couldn’t think of a way to do it technically, and so (as we understand it), anyone who transfers factions will lose all of their current Argent Tournament standing, and have to make their way back up through the ranks to Champion.

Guild Recruitment Spotlight, Ghostcrawler on Tanking Disparities, Blue Posts

Guild Recruitment Spotlight You can probably expect this to be a recurring feature on the site since we’re focused on PvE. This particular spotlight will be on some of the higher ranked guilds in the world on WoWProgress .

Tuesday Morning Post: Not one, but two Heroic Coliseums edition

Good Tuesday Morning, everyone! While we are expecting an extended downtime this morning, Patch 3.2.2 is still in a holding pattern on the PTR and as of this writing does not appear likely to go live this week. But beyond that, We’ve still had some activity to speak of.

Breakfast Topic: Which NPCs cause a double take?

You have to hand it to Blizzard. They have a way with pop culture references and inside jokes.

BlizzCast episode 10 released

Zarhym has announced on the forums that BlizzCast episode 10 is out right now for your listening pleasure. In the official podcast, he talks with Lead Encounter Designer Scott Mercer and Senior Game Designer Dave Maldonado about patch 3.2 and the Argent Tournament instances released with it. Strangely, it sounds like the podcast was actually recorded before the release, but of course now everyone knows that we fight the Black Knight in the 5-man and what the dailies are all about

Call of the Crusade Trailer

A lot of people were wondering if there was going to be an official Blizzard trailer for World of Warcraft’s Patch 3.2 , Call of the Crusade, and lo’ and behold, there is! Just not out in its usual promptness. The trailer itself is made up of mostly in-game footage of the various events in the new dungeon, the Argent Tournament .

The Argent Tournament in Patch 3.2

With my “Tourist Guide” series I attempted to present a comprehensive guide to the Argent Tournament and their goings-on in Northrend, so let’s look at the new content coming in Patch 3.2. This post is Part IV in the series, a guide to all the new content introduced in Patch 3.2. This includes a new quest hub, new rewards, and changes to existing quests.

TurpsterVision: Jousting for Dummies

We can’t believe it either – Turpster has been let loose on WoW.com to bring you videos from in and around the World of Warcraft! You’ve heard him on the WoW Insider Show , and now see him on TurpsterVision right here on WoW.com. Patch 3.2 brings us many, many great ways for us to get our hands on Champions Seals along with some awesome things to spend them on ! One of the easiest ways to get your hands on some of these new items is by completing the daily quests offered up in Ice Crown at the Argent Tournament

Argent Tournament dailies: Get Kraken!

The Patch 3.2 daily quests are all rather straightforward, but since the QuestHelper-esque features that were intended to be in the patch were pulled, we figured we would go over them all anyway. The first one that we’ll be tackling is Get Kraken! This quest can only be seen once you’ve acquired the Crusader title, and it’s the return of a Burning Crusade staple: On-rails bombing quests. Watch the video above, and that’s pretty much the whole thing

Breakfast Topic: Does the Background Downloader get you fired up?

So as you may have seen if you follow WRUP , I’ve been trying on and off for months to summon up the energy to get through the tournament on my Death Knight. It’s not that I don’t want it, but the Argent Tournament dailies just aren’t my favorite. The quests are lacking life and excitement , and the lore is sort of tepid .

What If We Lost: An argument for losing a major lore-based battle

Warning: This article does contain spoilers for the Argent Coliseum Raid.

Wrath of the Who?

I love this comic from the very talented miggy over at WoW Ladies, not only because it’s funny, but because she’s got a point. Back when the Battle for Mount Hyjal instance in the Caverns of Time appeared in game, we all wondered why we were going there in the first place — unlike the other CoT instances, there were no dragons to fight or strange factions messing with the continuum. All that could happen in there is that we’d screw everything up and ruin time as we know it (and given all the wipes that went on in there, we probably did)

Patch 3.2 brings about Ravasaur mounts, baby dinosaurs, Northrend orphans and more

Great news for collectors of pets and mounts in the Patch 3.2 notes ! Not only will the long-desired Ravasaur mount finally be available — for Horde players only , mind you — but dinosaur fanatics will be pleased to discover that they can find Raptor Hatchlings from rare and elite raptors throughout the world. For those unwilling to farm, you can also buy Obsidian Raptor Hatchlings from Breanni in Dalaran! But that’s not all.

Chest heirlooms with 10% XP bonus coming in Patch 3.2

Yay for new heirlooms! Earlier this afternoon, Blizz bestowed upon us the information that in patch 3.2 , there would be some heirlooms available for purchase by those who had gained their Crusader titles.

New details on the Argent Tournament update in Patch 3.2

Patch 3.2 is currently in development, and not yet on the PTRs. We’ve been told that it will focus on expanding the Argent Tournament that was introduced in patch 3.1, and we’ve also learned that it will feature new Druid form art and a new battleground, Isle of Conquest .

Patch 3.2 – New Argent Tournament Updates

Patch 3.2 – New Argent Tournament Updates Quote from: Blizzard ( Source ) With the release of the Secrets of Ulduar, the Argent Tournament opened its doors to heroes from all over Azeroth and saw champions arise from the ranks to take on the challenges before them to prove their worth. In the next upcoming content patch, Call of the Crusade, the Argent Tournament will be expanding its influence and players will be able to experience all-new dailies, rewards, and areas of interest. Two New Quest Hubs A new Cult of the Damned camp now sits overlooking the Tournament grounds and spying on the activity below
