Wasting my Childbearing Years playing WOW

Without going all Bridget Jonesy This post has been sitting in my drafts for a while. Might even be considered a TMI post, and possibly some of you who read me might read too much into this. But Meh. I wanted a Humdinger for my 500th, and this well – this I thought was appropriate

Don’t Drink and Vendor

L ast week I’d mentioned that I’d probably be doing shorter, “QotD” posts… then promptly entered into a tripartite look at Cataclysmic stat changes.? Such is the nature of blogging, I suppose.? When topics rear their wordy heads, who am I to back down

Everyone Needs A Break

F ulguralis brushed his robes once more in vain. Speckles of blood and grime covered him and would not be removed my mere wiping

Voting with your wallet

In the past weeks I only made some passing remarks on two stories which caused a much bigger uproar on other gaming sites: The Allods item shop, and the new Ubisoft DRM. There was loud complaining about Allods making items for cash “necessary” to play, and them being too expensive. And even louder complaining that Ubisoft DRM was robbing the players of fundamental rights, by requiring them to be always online to play

Breakfast Topic: Reading rainbow

While World of Warcraft has one heck of an audience, the story involving it doesn’t limit itself to just playing the game. There’s a ton of books, comics, manga and RPG source guides out there with yet another ton of information

Is an Offset – really a complete offset.

I was thinking as I changed into my Pvp set – at how many pieces I still had on that were PVE It was only my weapon, offhand and wand because I don’t have an arena rating to get them, but then I did some more fiddling because I was told that anymore then 1k resil is not really useful in arena. (1.3 resil with a resil flask in a bg) , so I swapped back in a trinket for an extra 111 sp ( that never melting icecrystal Boo yeah!) My healing set on my Shadow Priest is similar

Board Game: Panzer General

Bill and I had a rare games day yesterday which, as always, started with a ritual gorging on an orgy of food at Denny’s, and then graduated into a game of the new Axis & Allies (which I’m hoping Bill will review on his site ) before moving into a few rounds of Panzer General: Allied Assault , a game that I received for my birthday last month. Click to enlarge Panzer General is an interesting collaboration between Petroglyph Games and Ubisoft. The World War II strategy title was co-developed for the Xbox 360 (XBLA) and meatspace game market.

New Caverns of Time instance coming in Cataclysm

The recent Twitter dev chat confirmed what is fast becoming a tradition: We will be getting a new Caverns of Time instance with the upcoming expansion. It’s certainly not something I have much trouble with. The Caverns of Time are an excellent tool for looking back and understanding old pieces of the story that brought us to the current world as it is.

Will the future be an MMO?

Pangoria Fallstar sent me an interesting link to a video from DICE 2010 , where Jesse Schell extrapolates from Facebook games to a future where every one of you actions comes with experience points: Brush your teeth in the morning, +10 points. Brush them for longer than 3 minutes for extra points, and of course further extra points if you brushed them all week

Goin’ Slummin’? Thanks, But No Thanks.

D uring my time spent in WoW, I, like the rest of you, have had occasion to encounter a wide range of behavioral types.? Being somewhat of a psychology geek (or is that nerd? or dweeb? Jbelle ?), I usually view a lot of these types with a bit of a clinical detachment, holding myself aloof from the drama.? Most would say I have a rather high tolerance for things that can be quite annoying or even downright rude.? Hence why I don’t write a whole lot about failed PuGs and getting ninja’ed and such.? I’m the type that wants to find the source of the behavior and puzzle it out, fix it maybe.? In another life, I was probably a decent shrink.
