Patch 3.3.3 PTR: Major changes to the auction house and game economy

Patch 3.3.3 is going to the PTR soon, and there’s a bunch of stuff that will affect those of us who play the auction house. I’m going to list them in the order I see them, and then we’ll go into some analysis: Professions Runed Orbs: Recipes which require this item have had their material requirements significantly reduced. Inscription Frozo the Renowned has moved into the Dalaran Magus Commerce Exchange and will be trading your Frozen Orbs for various other trade goods.

It’s been a long time…

No, I’m not going to quote Led Zeppelin songs here. I just wanted to do something I haven’t done in quite a while, which is post a blog.

500 gold per hour for doing nothing much

Warcraft Econ has a very interesting short post up, in which they did a rather simple experiment: They stood motionlessly for 1 hour near some pool in Wintergrasp and fished, and then sold all the fish on the auction house. The result of that was an astounding 500 gold. And I suspect you could further increase that amount by turning those fish into fish feasts if you have cooking skill as well

19 Elemental Shaman Twink: Update

H ey Gang! I wanted to give you an update on my level 19 Elemental Shaman Twink. Once I hit level 19 I road the boat to Stormwind and found the creepy rogue in the corner and payed my 10g dues and shut off my precious XP gains. Now the fun begins.

Tanking Heroics: Quick and Easy Gearing for Paladins

So I recently decided to level up my Paladin from 70 to 80, and wanted to play around with tanking some instances while leveling and also once I hit 80.? However, I noticed that there isn’t a good up-to-date gear guide readily available for preparing yourself to tank heroic instances.? With that in mind I’ve created the Tanking Heroics: Quick and Easy Gearing .? For now this is primarily for Paladins, but a Warrior could put it to use as well since both classes take advantage of block mechanics. Keep in mind, this set of gear is what should get you into heroics quickly.? It’s not always going to be the best-in-slot items, etc.? I’ll be putting together another guide for getting into raids easily, too, which will be a more optimized setup than this, but of course not always the best.? If you want to view the full stats and profile for this setup, you can do so by heading to this profile on Wowhead: PaladinTank

Retribution Raider’s Crib Sheet for 3.3

Cross posted on Caer Morrighan on 17 January 2010 Updated for patch 3.3: Specs and Glyphs 5/9/57 Use Major Glyph of Judgemen t and Major Glyph of Consecration . Use Minor Glyph of Sense Undead , Minor Glyph of Lay on Hands , Minor Glyph of Blessing of Might . For your last Major slot use Glyph of Seal of Vengeance if you are NOT expertise capped from gear.? If you ARE expertise capped from gear use Seal of Exorcism .

The OverAchiever: Straight to the poorhouse

As a general rule, achievements are more oriented toward raw effort than deep pockets, and that’s one of the things that’s nice about them for newer players. However, some achievements are all about your ability to fling giant wads of cash around, like monkeys at a zoo flinging…things that are usually not money. If you’re sitting on an overly fat wallet and ever thought to yourself, “You know, I’d really like to experience being a poverty-stricken (class) begging for gold on a mailbox somewhere,” say no more

Ask Stoneybaby

It’s time for a nice long edition of Ask Stoneybaby. There were a lot of great comments in December with dozens of questions. I’ve also recieved a few emails, which I’ll reply to you via email, then post here for the next Ask Stoneybaby

The new 80

My mage in World of Warcraft reached level 80 this weekend, and that turned out to be far more fun and excitement than I had anticipated.

Are Bloodlust/Heroism drums incoming?

If you’re a shaman you’re familiar with the “grar grar grar grar” sound of Bloodlust or the “ktang!” of Heroism , its Alliance counterpart. For a long time one of the complaints has been that you absolutely had to have a shaman along in order to gain access to this buff

State of my WoW mage

I currently have 4 characters in World of Warcraft which I play, that is do quests and dungeons with as opposed to using them as crafting or bank alts. There are my two level 80 characters, priest and warrior on the Horde side, there is my Alliance paladin level 63 on a different server, and there is another Horde character, a blood elf mage, currently level 78. This post is just a personal journal entry with a bunch of random thoughts regarding that mage

Gearing to Raid: DPS

Be prepared…this is an all-in-one for DPS and it’s a doozy. It reflects the changes through patch 3.3, including the 4 new dungeons added since I last made gear lists.
