Interactive is not necessarily twitchy

Yesterday’s discussion on the future Blizzard MMORPG evolved into a discussion of possible changes to MMORPG combat. While various games have fiddled with the system in different ways over the last decade, MMORPG combat is still remarkably similar in various games

Mailbag: Where Do We Go Now?

Today, you’ll find an interview I did with WoW In an Hour . We talked about playing and raiding on a short schedule. I hope you enjoy it.

Being poor in a mature economy

The two alts I made last year are twinked to the max: Heirloom items, the best gear and consumable money can buy, and in some extreme cases I even had expensive enchantments on very low level gear. There is a certain fun to be had when playing a completely overpowered low level character. But for Tobold the tauren shaman, my new alt in the blogging community guild, I wanted to try something different

Patch 3.3.3 PTR: Celestial steed video

We just received this mouth-gaping footage of the celestial steed mount in action.

A guild for the blogging community

Tamarind from Righteous Orbs founded a World of Warcraft guild for the blogging community , called Single Abstract Noun on the EU RP server Argent Dawn, Horde side. There is also a US chapter . I joined the Euro side with a Tauren shaman, now level 4, and owning 67 copper pieces.

Assault on the Ruby Sanctum: Transcripts and details

WARNING : This post is chock full of spoilers.

Patch 3.3.3 PTR: Revenge of the Warrior, now Improved

In the most recent bout of data mining the PTR patch (specifically build 11623), the fine folks at MMO-Champion discovered more changes and clarifications to how warrior abilities will work. Keeping in mind again that this is the PTR and you never know how things are going to change, here are the specifics. Protection Revenge damage has been slightly lowered, it now deals [ 31% of AP + 1636 ] to [ 31% of AP + 1998 ] damage at max rank.

Patch 3.3.3: Latest PTR datamining finds [Updated]

Hot from the latest patch 3.3.3 PTR updates are some stunning images contained in the data files. We don’t know where you can get the above pictured Celestial Horse — a lot of people are speculating about its location, but no one knows yet. First up is the Celestial Horse you see above: Celestial Horse 1 Celestial Horse 2 Celestial Horse 3 Celestial Horse 4 In addition, they’ve been tinkering with existing “tigon” models, the catwoman/catman models used for various Troll-related bosses

I’m-a Callin’ You Out

It’s not often that I feel the need to publicly denounce somebody, but this is a pretty special case. Coordinated douchebaggery. I’ll explain.

Who should talk to the NPC?

There are two Dungeons where part of the pace of the instance is set by talking to an NPC, Bran in Halls of Stone, and Arathas in the Culling of Stratholme. If the Npc doesn’t get spoken to at particular intervals then the instance cannot be continued.

Around Azeroth: Sleep now in the fire

Hey, it’s Valafar of on Exodar again! This time he’s submitted a picture of what the other writers assure me is a catapult in Wintergrasp. Since my Wintergrasp experience was limited to a short period of time that was mostly spent running around the border and mining nodes, jumping on random gun escarpments, and trying desperately to find a PUG for the raid afterward, I’ll have to take their word for it. Do you have any unusual, beautiful or interesting World of Warcraft images that are just collecting dust in your screenshots folder?

Time Is Money: Profit off the Titansteel cooldown removal

Time Is Money periodically allows Basil a place to post inane nonsense and market predictions which rarely pan out.

What is a Game, Anyway?

We talk about ‘games’ a lot.. but at the core what is a ‘game’ really? It turns out that defining ‘games’ is not an easy thing to do.

Patch 3.3.3 projections

Blizzard is currently working on patch 3.3.3 for World of Warcraft, and while nothing is definitive yet, there are already some patchnotes on the test realms which caused two commenters to ask about the patch in yesterday’s open Sunday thread. One change is to the kickout vote system of the random Dungeon Finder group, with the commenter here fearing he’d be kicked out of every group due to low gearscore. I don’t think that is going to happen

Material Wealth: Making Money Off BC And Pre BC Materials

Most of the World of Warcraft players are currently busy with their raids and PVP at higher levels; only a few will take the time to venture back into the old Azeroth to re experience the intense moments of original warcraft. This is absolutely understandable as the old continent does not have much to offer to the high leveled players. The only reason you would return is to level another character, help another player, or you may just go around and gank towns and cities of the opposite faction.

Work , Work

I have 4 Level 80 toons. I have 3 Hordeside and 1 Alliance. My Hordeside toons are my Paladin, Druid, and Hunter
