Spiritual Guidance: Holy? Disc? We’re all priests

Every Sunday (and the occasional weekday) Dawn Moore reinvents what “smitelol” means to her shadowy cohort, Fox Van Allen , by busting down a door with penance lasers and raising holy hell to a Tarantino soundtrack . In the column Spiritual Guidance she offers advice to holy and discipline priests on how to wield the holy light, with style

Mac drivers to be available for all Razer mice

World of Warcraft players using a Mac should be pleased to hear that gaming peripherals manufacturer Razer pledged their commitment to supporting the Mac gaming community at the Game Developers Conference . They announced that all upcoming Razer products will come with Mac driver support, including the Razer StarCraft 2 peripheral suite scheduled for release later this year. Prior to the Razer DeathAdder Mac Edition in 2008, all Razer mice and peripherals only had native Windows support and drivers

Goon Squad downs Tirion Fordring

Perennial pariahs Goon Squad , Horde-side on Mal’Ganis-US, have really carved out a niche for themselves in the World of Warcraft. Well, two niches. The first is a rock-solid reputation of being the foremost trolls and griefers in the MMO market, period — a reputation perpetuated by a community that operates mostly on word-of-mouth and lovingly crafted by the guild itself

Formspring Trinket Question

I recently received a couple of trinket questions via my Formspring account.

Breakfast Topic: The Eternal Stairway

One of the good and bad aspects of an MMO is that it is a form of storytelling that does not really end in the same way that a consistent narrative does. A novel, a movie, even a single player RPG can have a climax in a way that a MMO like World of Warcraft simply cannot.

Outside the themepark

In the open Sunday thread a reader asked whether there was any connection between Tamarind founding a new guild for the blogging community and Gevlon founding a new ganking guild. Obviously the two guilds couldn’t be any more different from each other, Single Abstract Noun is a social guild, while Gevlon posted extremely anti-social guild rules .

Introductory guide to fighting rogues, Part 3

Zach broke up this week’s The Art of War(craft) covering rogues because, well, those rogues are darned sneaky! So sneaky that they surprised him with more secret information than he was expecting to write about. So read quickly.

Priest Tier 10 Changes: Right Idea, Wrong Timing

Thespius covered his thoughts on the proposed tier 10 changes yesterday so I won’t rehash his words. In this post, I’m going to try see if I can logic out why the changes were made

Stat changes in Cataclysm: Death Knight Style

T oday represents the last in our tri-partite look at the Cataclysmic stat changes.? As promised, Death Knights are the topic of today’s discussion.? Again, I’d like to make sure to note that like everything else Blizzard does, this is subject to change.? With that in mind, we’ll be looking more at the general directions they want to go. For DPS Death Knights Being a bi-functional class (tanking and DPS), we have to look at the changes in two ways.? Let’s check out the DPS stats changes first.? Here’s the old stat priority for Frost DPS: Hit (until cap) > Str > Expertise (until cap) > Crit > Haste The only two stats that are going away that we had some moderate use for are Attack Power and Armor Penetration, but as you can see, those weren’t really in our top five.? In fact, they will each now convert into one of those or stamina, so it’s all good.? As long as you’re wearing plate, you should be well itemized.? The non-plate items will be tailored towards other classes, and we will probably see less overlap, making those items not as good for us.? As a plate, melee DPS, we should just be prepared to see more stamina and more strength.? Nothing big here

Icecrown Citadel Zone Buff, Blue posts

Icecrown Citadel Zone-Buff is here The optional zone buff in the Icecrown Citadel is now available and will make the instance easier for whoever wants to use it. The buff currently increases total health, healing done and damage dealt by 5% but higher versions are in-game and will probably be activated later . Strength of Wrynn (5%) / Hellscream’s Warsong (5%) Strength of Wrynn (10%) / Hellscream’s Warsong (10%) Strength of Wrynn (15%) / Hellscream’s Warsong (15%) Strength of Wrynn (20%) / Hellscream’s Warsong (20%) Strength of Wrynn (25%) / Hellscream’s Warsong (25%) Strength of Wrynn (30%) / Hellscream’s Warsong (30%) On a sidenote, the amount of limited attempts for end-wing bosses has been increased to 35.

The groupability stat

I have this brilliant idea for Blizzard for a series of role-specific stats to introduce in Cataclysm, which I’ll call groupability stats. Each groupability stat is unique to one role, be it tanking, healing, or dps.

Cataclysm Stat Changes and Moonkin

Eyonix made a very big and very good post on the official forums today titled: Cataclysm Stat & System Changes. In the post he provides a lot more detail on the stat changes we will see in Cataclysm. A lot of the information is a rehash of what we heard at Blizzcon and on the forums over the past few months, but there is also quite a bit of new information that we need to ponder

A New Direction

W ell, the last weekend was quite busy in a non-gaming way. We took our annual ski trip, and bought a house. We don’t actually close for two months, but still…

Know Your Lore: The Black Dragonflight

The World of Warcraft is an expansive universe. You’re playing the game, you’re fighting the bosses, you know the how, but do you know the why? Each week Matthew Rossi and Anne Stickney make sure you Know Your Lore by covering the history of the story behind World of Warcraft

3.3 Demonology Warlockery

F or some time now, I’ve been running my second spec as Demonology. I primarily use the spec for the daily random heroic that I run, but I’ve also lately found it quite fun in Battlegrounds. I want to go on record here at that start saying that everything I learned about this spec, I learned from the late Abigore (not that he’s died, mind you, just moved on to other things) and his wonderful guides .? Since he’s no longer blogging, I wanted to take the time to continue what he started, even if my advice will be somewhat more casual and less involved.? The spec is a great spec, and it deserves to be broadcast in it’s own right.? I will still (and probably always) raid Affliction, but Demonology has strengths where Affliction has weaknesses, making it perfect for a second spec.

Patch 3.3.3 Dusting off my Warrior

Spooner is near and dear to me like no other character I’ve made. The chances of me taking my warrior as my main again are slim simply because I like my rogue, I like the simplicity or not worrying about different gear sets, I like the fact that I can go stealth, and I also

How to Master Priest Tier 10, Ruby Sanctum Thoughts

Granted, if you’re just aiming for the bonuses, the Priest healing set just doesn’t look as hot. That being said though, I picked up the four set a week and some change ago with the determination to try to master it. In terms of stats, the tier 10 is better than the tier 9 (Intellect, stamina, and all that fun stuff)
