Dark Summonings – Return

This post is a continuation of an ongoing story between Aely and Arrens called Dark Summonings. You should read Dark Summonings , Into the Nether , and Into the Nether part 2 , Hillsbrad , and Into the Nether part 3 (many of which are hosted over at Arrens’ blog ) before you read this! As the summoning’s visual disruptions faded, Arrens found himself standing in the middle of his study in Stormwind, a huge summoning circle burned into the carpet.

Friday Fiction – Wounds and Healing, Part 4 – Pix

Pix’s note: Part of this is a collaboration; Siasha gave me her thoughts about the events following her meeting with Lelissa and Esmerellda, but they were a little chronologically misplaced compared to where we are now. So, I made a few changes to get it a little more caught up, and added it to the end… anyway, you’ll see.

World of Warcraft’s 5th Anniversary, Pilgrim’s Bounty

The 5th anniversary and Pilgrim’s Bounty are now both underway so be sure to log on to participate and get your companion pets! Between the two you can get an Onyxian Whelpling and a Plump Turkey , both of which count towards Lil’ Game Hunter . World of Warcraft’s 5th Anniversary Simply log into the game and you’ll receive the WoW’s 5th Anniversary feat of strength as well as an Onyxian Whelpling in your mailbox. Around Azeroth: All heads must bow

Kensaij of on Moon Guard wrote in in praise of a local guild’s recent anniversary event. “I know that Moon Guard has a somewhat bad name, both amongst RPers and PvP/PvE-ers who don’t RP,” he writes. “But there is one guild who face the tides of griefers without fear, who show that good roleplaying is NOT dead: The Knights of Menethil.

Friday Fiction – Wounds and Healing, Part 1 – Pix

Pix’s Note: We’re picking up where I left off with the conclusion of Fall from Grace . I’m back to 3rd person omniscient (because 1st person was a lovely challenge, but it can be an incredibly tough way to write, and tends to be less descriptive), so I hope you enjoy it, despite the previous differences.

Breakfast Topic: What do you want from your faction leader?

Well, one thing I learned yesterday: people have some very strong opinions on what they expect from their faction’s leader. Since there are rumors of a shakeup on that score, it seems like a good time to ask you, the readers, exactly what you want from your faction leaders come Cataclysm . For myself, I’ve never been really all that worried about the War between Horde and Alliance and its role in World of Warcraft

Breakfast Topic: I hate

The interesting thing about World of Warcraft for me is that it can create such feelings of loyalty, solidarity, faction pride, and sometimes, raw, visceral, demonic hatred welling up from within. As an example, as an old school warrior player, I despise the Cyclonian with every fiber of my being. Mind you, I loved the quest chain, it felt epic and I kept the sword forever and a day (might even still have it somewhere in that mess of a bank) but the mob

What is Blizzard planning for its next MMO?

Filed under: World of Warcraft , Fantasy , Business models , Interviews , MMO industry , New titles According to a recent interview with Wired’s GameLife , Blizzard ’s next MMO project will be “Significantly different” than what they have now with World of Warcraft . This alleviates most concern over self-competition, since they seem fairly confident that the new MMO will scratch a new itch. And seriously, even if it did take players away from WoW , would it be such a bad thing for Blizzard

The WoW tourist’s guide to important Cataclysm locations

It was a hectic two days at this year’s BlizzCon with lots of revelations, some good , others awesome . Destruction is coming to Azeroth with the return of Deathwing , changing the face of the planet forever. While we won’t see the game until 2010 , the world will change entirely and cities will be revamped in order to enable them to be made flyable

Arcane Brilliance: What Cataclysm will mean to Mages, part 1

Welcome to another installment of Arcane Brilliance , the weekly Mage column that serves up piping hot Mage content, with a steaming side of inappropriate humor, a light sprinkling of random 80’s pop culture references, and just a dash of incompetent attempts at math. Speaking of math, last week was awesome, guys .

Arcane Brilliance: Five things every Mage should do before they ding 80

Each week Arcane Brilliance waves its wand and conjures a column about Mages . Then Arcane Brilliance turns the column into a sheep, sets that sheep on fire, and then freezes it into a flaming-sheep-sicle. This flaming-sheep-sicle-that-used-to-be-a-Mage-column is actually tastier than you might think, but also quite deadly
