To Break A Wall

S o what do you do when you hit a raid wall? Make an MS paint of the strat, of course! Who doesn’t love terribad MS paints?? Plus, firming up the strat with a cooky visual may be just what the doctor ordered.? At the very least, you hope looking at things from a different angle may help promote new ideas or understanding

The Icecrown Citadel buff

As I’m not currently raiding, I didn’t mention the Icecrown Citadel buff up to now. Blizzard had already in previous expansions made characters stronger and nerfed raid dungeons with time, so that at the end of an expansion people could visit raid dungeons they had been previously been unable to beat.

Not a solution to RMT

Rohan from Blessing of Kings posted a reaction to a proposal that Blizzard should start selling gold to ruin third-party gold sellers, and thinks that this would be okay, if the money went to charity . Through the charity solution he wants to avoid Blizzard having incentives to tune the game that it can only be played smoothly when buying gold.

So, you’re bored, what do you do? Heroics Edition

H ey Gang! So if you’re like me, you’re probably so burned out from running the Daily heroics that your brain has exploded all over your keyboard. Spontaneous Combustion! BAM! The situation that most everyone’s still in is a couple of different things: A) You still need Frost Emblems for gear B) You still need Triumph Badges for gear C) You have absolutely nothing else to do with your time D) You are a masochistic person and enjoy the pain that it brings because it makes you feel alive Well, what ever combination you’re situation is right now, you still need to force yourself to run them. Most of the time, if you bring a buddy, it makes it 10x better

Interactive is not necessarily twitchy

Yesterday’s discussion on the future Blizzard MMORPG evolved into a discussion of possible changes to MMORPG combat. While various games have fiddled with the system in different ways over the last decade, MMORPG combat is still remarkably similar in various games

Mailbag: Where Do We Go Now?

Today, you’ll find an interview I did with WoW In an Hour . We talked about playing and raiding on a short schedule. I hope you enjoy it.

Love

There was a time when I played the German version of A Tale in the Desert , and Teppy, the main developer, gathered all the players online on the server at one spot to hold a council.

Arthas is a Whiner

So, one of my more favorite guildmates (Ilcyira) has decided to make a video about something she and I have had several discussions about over the course of her reading of Arthas by Christie Golden. I have to warn you, it’s very NSFW (and contains a few spoilers), but I laughed. Enjoy! Oh, it’s also worth mentioning that this is the same Ilcyira who posted this next little gem on Youtube, too – she’s the singer, and her husband is the other voice you hear at the very beginning.

Just Do Your Job: Fulguralis’ Thoughts with some Fuubaar Flare

I t’s official: we’ve hit a wall.? Rotface has stymied us for the time being.? Sometimes in the course of raiding, you hit that wall where you just don’t feel like you’re “getting it”.? I’m not talking about when you feel like you’re making headway.? I’m talking about when you feel like you’re taking steps backwards.? It happens even to the best raid groups and usually it’s a direct function of frustration. The above is actually the beginning of Fulguralis’ thoughts before he emailed me.

Gold Selling

The Problem Last week Big Bear Butt issued a call for Blizzard to end Prohibition and start selling gold to players . The theory is that by offering players a safe and legal method of purchasing gold, Blizzard will greatly damage the economic incentive of hackers and goldsellers, reducing the damage that hacked accounts are doing to the game.

An orc by any other name would smell as sweet

In the open Sunday thread Nils asked “Would you like to speculate on the nature of Blizzards new MMO?” .

What In the World Is Going On?

As most of you know I am a Christian.

Don’t Drink and Vendor

L ast week I’d mentioned that I’d probably be doing shorter, “QotD” posts… then promptly entered into a tripartite look at Cataclysmic stat changes.? Such is the nature of blogging, I suppose.? When topics rear their wordy heads, who am I to back down

Ask Coriel: New Prot Paladin Spec

Redzilla asks: I’m looking for the overall best Tankadin build in your opinion.

Formspring Trinket Question

I recently received a couple of trinket questions via my Formspring account.

Outside the themepark

In the open Sunday thread a reader asked whether there was any connection between Tamarind founding a new guild for the blogging community and Gevlon founding a new ganking guild. Obviously the two guilds couldn’t be any more different from each other, Single Abstract Noun is a social guild, while Gevlon posted extremely anti-social guild rules .

Off the beaten path

Tobold the tauren shaman is up to level 10, and now has 64 gold.

Everyone Needs A Break

F ulguralis brushed his robes once more in vain. Speckles of blood and grime covered him and would not be removed my mere wiping

Being poor in a mature economy

The two alts I made last year are twinked to the max: Heirloom items, the best gear and consumable money can buy, and in some extreme cases I even had expensive enchantments on very low level gear. There is a certain fun to be had when playing a completely overpowered low level character. But for Tobold the tauren shaman, my new alt in the blogging community guild, I wanted to try something different
