WoW AddOn: LFGX
Written by admin.
For the guys lost World of Warcraft’s old LookingForGroup operate that got axed, that Addon might perk you up. LFGX by jtbalogh should help fill in the former function’s shoes, which appears to be an approximation of the old LFG. It additionally works with LookingForGroup and General channels, so it should not interfere with your basic functions.
As for the further details by the author:
- The default Blizzard LFG server is optional and not mandatory.
- This addon will import all ‘Looking for More’ requests from the server.
- Button mashing is needed since it can not be automated, so periodically press a few times the slash /lfwx, the keybind, the minimap button, or ‘Refresh’ button in the Lfmx tab.
- Sending requests is not implemented considering broken by patches, so use the original Blizzard LFG server for now.
Instructions:
- Run /lfwx to open window, or use keybind, or use minimap button
- Open one or more chat windows for optional viewing
- Join the LookingForGroup or General channels in any chat window
- Enable the Blizzard server in options, whether desired, and do button mashing.
- See tooltips around the interface for additional help
- (see warning below)
WARNING: Disable other addons that may temporarily block/hide messages in those public LFG chat channels and log back in. that addon is more useful when channels remain visible, showing the original note in the original channel without having to block anything. that addon makes every attempt to produce the LookingForGroup channel end up looking and being used like it always did before being nerfed — plus a few features notwithstanding.
Test and try sending some requests for update only and add comments like, ‘just evaluating, no need to respond’. analysis public channels with care though since analysis messages bother humans. whether you are not comfortable using an addon to send requests to public channels, you could use the slash command to chat as usual. Or just wait for folks to start talking in the channels.
Command:
- /lfwx (toggles through all of them quickly)
- /lfgx
- /lfmx
- /lfcx
Options:
- See the Wizard window for the option button
Install:
- Move the files to the game folder, .World of WarcraftInterfaceAddOnsLfgx .
- Enable the blizzard option for “out-of-date” addons before entering the world. There are too many patches by Blizzard that month to bother updating the toc file.
Uninstall:
- Remove the game folder, .World of WarcraftInterfaceAddOnsLfgx .
- Leave any unused channels, like Lfgx, LookingForGroup, General. The public channels are not hidden by that addon and easily visible to avoid confusion. Only Lfgx is hidden.
Credit for the original LFGX interface, FrameXMLLFGFrame.lua, goes to Blizzard. Some features incorporated from addons; ArcaneLocate, Atlas, JoChatTimeStamp, MonkeyQuest, PlayerRating, QuestHistory.
Known bugs: some, not yet mentioned here
Known limitations: The addon relies on channels and peer-to-peer communication, so there are limitations.
